FIRSTLY apologies to my loyal readers for the lateness of the current issue of the Local magazine. It has presented a tremendous challenge this time round and it is very much a learning curve at the same time. The magazine is projected to be somewhere in the region of 40-pages, the increase in size is part of the setback and i've had many sleepless nights playing catchup and devising a new schedule for the issue to follow thereafter so that it runs as sweet as a nut. It is a complete change from the previous newsletter, and the new format is quite refreshing.

It's a real community effort with local people doing their bit for the mag. Local business couple Emma & Mark Baravelli (The Little Deli) are featured residents of our new Food & Drink section and have prepared this Homemade Black Cherry & Almond Tart served with Homemade Welsh Honey and Vanilla Panacotta, this has to be the best perk of the job yet and I got the full joy of devouring it all in front of them both, the verdict, top marks 10/10, folks try this one at home! I've never really liked Honey or Blackcherries, but everything Emma seems to make, I somehow end up liking, they practically convert me everytime, if they do read this, I challenge them to my fear of mushrooms!

Likewise we have local celebrity TV/Radio chef Peter Osborne doing the main course, some great features, then there's the puzzles and games and prizes too!

For the good of the Town

A couple of years ago I had the misfortune of leaving Llandudno for personal reasons, though if it was for not me having left, then maybe the Llandudno Local which I run, nor this blog for that matter would even exist today. Back in 2004/05 I setup a simple website called Old Llandudno Enthusiasts or Llandudno Enthusiasts for short (www.olle.co.uk). On there you would have found an emerging collection of postcards which I collected at the time, my good friend Judith Philips rang me from the North Wales Weekly News and asked if i'd like to have a page to promote it. I kindly accepted, and from there it proved a success, the hits demonstrated there was interest and I took things one step further. I setup a community forum where people could reminisce in the nostalgia, which is why the present forum has a division 'The Local' & 'The Enthusiast'. The early 'Times Past' section proved a huge success and things excelled quite rapidly. It was initially funded by myself and member contributions, but later I turned this hobby into something more sustainable, it is now my pride and joy, my loaf of bread, and things are carried out more professional these days, but the essence of the site remains the same. I provide the town with a free to use online community service and my new magazine a platform, a voice for local people and charitable groups/societies which there is no charge, in return revenue generated through advertising provides me with an amicable wage. What doesn't help is individuals who choose to slate and slander me, for I have done nothing wrong, all I ever wanted to do, was do something good for the town. If there's one thing I could kindly ask the anonymous commentators on other local blogs and forums out there if you have any morals left, it would be to please stop the malicious rumours and nonsense before it begins to damage and threaten my livelihood for I depend this.

Llandudno Local Magazine

The Llandudno & District Local magazine will be out for end of June. We welcome articles from any local groups/organisations/societies/clubs/schools and are offering free full pages in full colour, subject to approval. Readers are also welcome to send in their thoughts/snippets to be included in our 'Readers Writes' pages, or can ask our Agony Aunts a question whatever the problem. The magazine will have a printed circulation of around 5,000 copies reaching the immediate Llandudno & District area. Deadline for entries is 28th May.

Welcome to the official Llandudno Local blog something bold, something blue, something inspired, something new. Don't be bamboozled by the many imitations and variants out there, for this is the official one and only Llandudno Local blog, and your host is no one else other than the founder of the former Llandudno Enthusiast site (2003-2007) and newer Llandudno Local & District community forum, Craig Ollerton (The Editor).

This blog respresents a new platform medium for the Llandudno Local, and will cover topical discussions and debates which anyone can get involved in, alternately you can drop in either one of our Local community forums (Llandudno Local - www.llandudnolocal.co.uk or Colwyn Bay Local www.colwynbaylocal.co.uk) or drop us your thoughts/snippets which will be published in our 'Readers Writes' section of our community magazine.
